MOORESTOWN TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Focus on the Future Bond Referendum
Roberts Elementary has no room to spare, so the cafeteria shares space with the STEM area, separated by a partition.
Muddy fields limit outdoor activities at most MTPS schools. Drainage work is proposed.
What are the priorities?
Working with architects who specialize in school construction, we evaluated every inch of MTPS buildings and grounds.
Proposed improvements fall into these categories:
Space for students: Renovations to upgrade and expand instructional space and accommodate shifts of third grade to Upper Elementary School (UES) and sixth grade to (William Allen Middle School (WAMS), building additions to help accommodate sixth-graders at WAMS, athletic facility additions and enhancements
Addressing aging systems and infrastructure: Replacing obsolete HVAC systems and boilers with more cost-efficient and functional models to boost savings, comfort and air quality; updating roofs that are at the end of their life spans; repairing masonry and sealant that waterproofs buildings
Safety and security: Closing off multi-purpose room that cannot currently be locked down in case of an emergency; replacing outdated, poorly functioning public address systems; updating fire alarm systems
Parking expansion and traffic flow: Working with traffic engineer to reconfigure areas for safer, more effective traffic patterns on school campuses
📚Projects proposed at each school 🎒
NOTE: These projects were submitted for review to the state Department of Education in September 2024 with the expectation of holding a March 2025 bond referendum. As MTPS takes time to thoroughly analyze the state's project approvals and aid determination ahead of a vote now planned by late 2025, some project details may be updated.

Strategic moves: How projects would support shifting grade levels between schools
Moving third grade from lower elementary schools to Upper Elementary School would:
Reduce first- and second-grade class sizes that are higher than the optimal size of 22 or fewer students
Allow more students to attend their neighborhood schools
Create a true elementary school for grades 3-5 at UES
Free up space to provide full-day, tuition-free kindergarten that would serve the community and make the district eligible to apply for preschool expansion aid.
Moving sixth grade from Upper Elementary School to William Allen Middle School would:
End the need for UES to juggle an elementary school schedule and frequent middle school class changes in one building
Educate sixth-graders in middle school, where they belong for social and extracurricular experiences, and academic continuity
Allow sixth-graders to participate in competitive sports programs with other schools
